The process

  • Once subjects, pricing, and composition have been discussed, I will request reference photos. (See photo requirements below)

  • The photos will be reviewed and when I’m happy with the quality we can work together to choose the best one for the portrait.

  • Before I begin your portrait, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the order must be paid (via PayPal)

  • Photos can be provided periodically throughout the different stages so you can see the progress made. Once the portrait is complete, a final photo will be sent to you for approval before shipment.

  • Please allow 2 - 4 weeks for completion of Graphite portraits, and 4 - 6 weeks for completion of Polychromos portraits.

  • When approved, the remaining 50% of the order will be requested. I will not ship the order until full payment is received.

photo requirements

  • At least one clear, high quality photo of the subject’s Head/Shoulders.

  • Taken in shaded natural light (Please avoid direct sunlight or bright indoor lighting at night)

  • Best taken at eye level or slightly above.

  • Face should be in full focus - no blurriness.

  • Choose an image that represents your pet’s personality!

  • There is no such thing as too many reference photos, I am happy to receive as many as you’d like to send.

  • If an adequate photo cannot be provided (e.g. subject has passed) I will do my very best, but please understand your portrait will be slightly less detailed.

Art Mediums

I currently only offer portraits done in Graphite or Polychromos, but am looking to add watercolour or gouache as another medium.

Graphite

  • Black graphite on white Zenacolor paper.

  • Much quicker to complete.

  • Less expensive.

Polychromos

  • Coloured in full on toned Pastelmat.

  • Longest to complete.

  • Most expensive.

Price

Below are the prices for a Head/Shoulder study.

Payments are made in GBP via PayPal on the day’s exchange rate.

Framing

I do not provide framing services, so it is up to you to have your drawing professionally framed to preserve the portrait. If you are framing yourself, be sure to use an acid free mat or 100% cotton mounting boards.

Shipping

  • Free shipping within the UK / £10 shipping to Europe / £15 shipping to the US. For anywhere else, shipping will be quoted individually.

  • Graphite portraits will be rolled into a sturdy tube.

  • Polychromos portraits will be securely packaged in a card backed envelope, surrounded by foamboard.

  • Portraits will be shipped via Royal Mail, tracked and will require a signature on arrival.

  • Please be aware that your country may incur customs charges that are the responsibility of the buyer.
